Keep Moss Balls As A Houseplant

A conversation peruses when these algae are in your houseplant collection.

Moss Balls (Aegagropila linnaei) can be found in various lakes around the world. Lake Akan in Japan has many moss balls that live at the bottom close to the edges. They can be kept indoors in the right conditions.

I've kept mine for many years in open containers but had to clean the container and roll the algae with the palm of my hands under running water to keep them healthy.

It has been easier to keep the moss balls in a glass container with a lid, swirling the jar periodically. They also grow well in a small container with filtered running water. They can be found at pet or aquarium stores, and online. Make sure they are grown ethically. A good starter plant for children.
